About the Show:
The Auditorium and the Chicago Philharmonic continue the groundbreaking Auditorium Philms series with Top Gun: Maverick In Concert, a one-night-only presentation on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 7:30 PM.
Nominated for six Academy Awards® and winner for Best Sound, Top Gun: Maverick features a genre-defying score by Harold Faltermeyer, Hans Zimmer, Lady Gaga, and Lorne Balfe. The music blends 1980s synth nostalgia with sweeping orchestral drama and new thematic material, including the Oscar-nominated song “Hold My Hand.” The Chicago Philharmonic will perform the full score live as the film plays above the orchestra, offering audiences a rare opportunity to experience this cinematic phenomenon with the full force of a symphony orchestra.
The Auditorium Philms Concert Series is a multi-year partnership between two of Chicago’s most iconic arts institutions. Since launching in 2023, the series has introduced tens of thousands of new audience members to live symphonic music through blockbuster films and U.S. premieres, performed by the Chicago Philharmonic on The Auditorium’s historic stage. The most recent installment, The Holiday in Concert, also featuring a Hans Zimmer score, sold out and left audiences breathless for more.
