Whatever makes you feel comfortable! Our audience members have arrived wearing anything from jeans to black tie formal. We often display a red carpet and step and repeat before concerts, so if you love your concert outfit you can keep the memory of it forever!
Our symphonic concerts tend to be between 90-120 minutes, often with one 20 minute intermission. Chamber concerts may be shorter, and often take between 60-90 minutes.
Late seating is handled at the discretion of the house management. You may be seated in the back of the hall to minimize disturbances for other audience members. We encourage you to plan extra travel time, since traffic and public transportation can be unpredictable in Chicago.

About Us

Founded by musicians of the Lyric Opera Orchestra in 1989, The Chicago Philharmonic Society is on a mission to reimagine the orchestra concert experience. With nearly 200 musician members and a unique system of musician governance (two of the four musicians performing today serve on the Board of Directors), the organization is one of the most versatile, innovative, and ambitious orchestras in the country.

Chicago Philharmonic proudly collaborates with the greatest artists of our time, in every genre. Past collaborations have included the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance, English National Ballet, Kishi Bashi, Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett, Sleeping At Last, Joshua Bell, Tank and the Bangas, American Ballet Theatre, Ryan Speedo Green, and more.

The Illinois Council of Orchestras has awarded Chicago Philharmonic “Orchestra of the Year” (2018), “Programming of the Year” (2019), “Community Relations of the Year” (2019), “Executive Director of the Year” (2020), and “Conductor of the Year” (2021).
