The score for Home Alone 2 Lost in New York is an integral part of the film’s charm and emotional resonance. The music combines whimsical, light-hearted themes with dramatic, adventurous undertones. Williams’ iconic score includes both the playful and suspenseful, action-driven pieces that perfectly complement Kevin’s clever escapades and interactions with the burglars. The music heightens the holiday magic of the film while emphasizing the warmth, humor, and thrills of Kevin’s adventure in New York.

When clever and mischievous Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) is separated from his family at the airport, he mistakenly gets on a plane headed for New York City — while the rest of the McCallisters fly to Florida. Now alone in the Big Apple with enough money to turn it into his own playground, Kevin cons his way into a room at the luxurious Plaza Hotel and begins his usual antics.  But Kevin won’t be alone for long. The notorious Wet Bandits (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern), released from jail and still smarting from their last encounter with Kevin, are bound for New York too for a huge holiday heist. Kevin’s ready to welcome them with a battery of booby traps the bumbling bandits will never forget!

The Auditorium Philms Concert Series is a multi-year partnership between two of Chicago’s most iconic arts institutions. Since launching in 2023, the series has introduced tens of thousands of new audience members to live symphonic music through blockbuster films and U.S. premieres, performed by the Chicago Philharmonic on The Auditorium’s historic stage.
