On December 30, we had a wonderful evening of music, dance, and song with Salute to Vienna! A sold-out audience at Symphony Center basked in the glow of the new year, cheering and clapping along with the orchestra.
Each year, Salute to Vienna recreates the beloved Neujahrskonzert, hosted annually in Vienna’s legendary Musikverein. The short, effervescent pieces performed in the concert are brought to life by ballroom dancing and ballet, ushering audiences into the New Year with the charm of the old world.
We shared the stage with Maestro Gregory Vajda, tenor Brian Cheney, soprano Monika Rebholz, and dancers from the Budapest Ballet.
The crowd-pleasing favorite was of course Johann Strauss II’s Blue Danube Waltz, which brought the crowd to its feet for a standing ovation.
