The Chicago Philharmonic Society announces new leadership for its Associate Board as the organization’s 2026-2027 Season launches.
Zantraquilla Madkins, previously Vice Chair, has been appointed Chair of the Associate Board, succeeding Jemia Cunningham‑Elder, who completed her term after guiding the Board through its foundational years. Kailash Jayaraman has been appointed Vice Chair, supporting the Board’s continued growth and outreach.
“Serving as the inaugural Chair of the Associate Board has been an honor. This group has grown into a thoughtful, committed community of leaders who care deeply about the Philharmonic’s mission. Zantraquilla is an exceptional ambassador and collaborator, and I know she will guide the Board with clarity, energy, and heart.”
— Jemia Cunningham‑Elder
The Associate Board is a group of civic and philanthropic leaders who champion the Philharmonic through volunteering, networking, and outreach. Established in 2023, the Board provides a gateway for individuals who are new to philanthropy and eager to give back, support artists, and connect with like‑minded people across Chicago.
The Associate Board currently includes 20 members, representing nearly as many industries. It is a diverse group of professionals whose experiences span healthcare, finance, education, technology, the arts, and public service. Together, they bring a wide range of perspectives that enrich the Philharmonic’s community engagement and ambassadorial work.
Now entering its fourth year, the Associate Board is expanding its membership and aims to grow by 50% during the 2026-2027 Season.
“The Associate Board is a critical source of support for the Philharmonic, and I personally have been astounded by the enthusiasm, creativity, and generosity of this group. We cannot wait to see what this next year brings.”
